In the midst of the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Birthing Babies VA is excited to offer a self-paced, fully virtual option for childbirth and breastfeeding classes.

Blake Slusser, LCCE,FACCE will be providing all childbirth class instruction. Blake has been a birth worker in Richmond, VA since 2010 and serves clients as both a childbirth educator and birth doula. She is certified by Lamaze International and a Fellow in the American College of Childbirth Educators. Expect to learn research based information and practical tips to have your best birth!

Module 1:
The ins and outs of pregnancy and birth.
Comfort and relaxation techniques.

Module 2:
Common medical procedures for hospital birth.
Creating a birth plan and communicating with your healthcare team.
Movement in labor.

Module 3:
What comes after baby is born.
Common newborn appearances.
Basic breastfeeding & diapering.
Postpartum emotions/adjusting to parenting.

Breastfeeding Class Outline

In this class we will cover basic anatomy of breastfeeding, hunger cues, and positioning. We will also discuss how to know your baby is getting enough breastmilk and pumping.
